"But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy,
made us alive with (Jesus) Christ even when we were dead in
transgressions - it is by grace you have been saved."
(Ephesians 2:4-5)

About Us

Our Vision

We believe God is stirring in our church a fresh passion to reach beyond our own comfort to all people among whom God places us. We embrace God’s mission to bring the life changing Gospel to unreached people in our neighborhood, and we sense God convicting us to more intentionally reach out to people in our area.

Our purpose is to love and worship God, live in obedience to His Word and proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. This means we will prayerfully seek to:

  • EXALT our Lord through joyful worship and service.
  • EQUIP believers through the preaching and teaching of God’s Word, the sacraments and discipleship.
  • ENCOURAGE one another through love and good deeds.
  • EVANGELIZE to those who need the Savior in our community and the world.

In all these things we humbly acknowledge our total dependence upon Jesus Christ, the living head of the church. We believe that God’s purposes for us will be realized only as we allow His Spirit to direct and empower us.

  1. We believe that the Bible including both the Old and New Testaments is God’s Word and is free from error. We believe it is the only source and guide for faith, doctrine and life.
  2. We believe there is one God eternally existent in three distinct persons in one divine essence: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  3. We believe that man was originally created in the image and after the likeness of God to live in His fellowship. He fell into sin through the temptation of Satan and thereby lost fellowship with God, became totally depraved and is under the wrath of God.
  4. We believe that Jesus Christ, the Eternal Son, is the image of the invisible God.  He took upon Himself the form of a man, conceived by the Holy Ghost and born of the Virgin Mary. By His perfect obedience and substitutionary death on the cross, He has purchased our redemption.
  5. We believe and accept the Church of the Lutheran Bretheren’s confession of faith as being in conformity with God’s Word.
  6. We believe that a congregation is an assembly of believing Christians where the Word of God is preached in truth and purity and where the sacraments are administered in accordance with the Lord’s instruction.
  7. We believe in a personal experience of salvation in Christ, recognizing the clear distinction made in the Scriptures between the children of God and the children of the world.
  8. We conduct our services using a simple order of worship with a sermon, based on the Word of God, which occupies the most prominent place in the service.
  9. We believe and encourage the use of lay persons in spreading the Gospel and furthering the work of the Kingdom of God.
  10. Through Sunday School, Confirmation Instruction, Bible Camp, Lutheran Brethren Youth Fellowship, and Lutheran Brethren Youth Ministries, we seek to teach our youth to be followers of Christ.
  11. We believe in a strong evangelistic emphasis and with other congregations, support mission work in Canada, the United States, Cameroon, Chad, Japan, and Taiwan.
  12. We are aware of the value of Christian education and with other congregations sponsor Lutheran Brethren Seminary, Lutheran Center for Christian Learning and Hillcrest Lutheran Academy, all in Fergus Falls, MN.
  13. We are actively interested in giving everyone an opportunity to enter into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Bunker Hill Lutheran Church is a member of the Church of the Lutheran Brethren. Please visit http://www.clba.org to find out more about our beliefs and practices.

Bunker Hill Lutheran Church began its ministry in the Princeton area in 1957. A handful of Norwegian families, having migrated from Brooklyn to Griggstown, were looking to establish a place of worship. The original building was built in just 17 Saturdays under the contracting abilities of many of the church families, including the pastor! Since then, several additions have been added including a parsonage on the adjoining property. No longer a Norwegian community church, we welcome the opportunity to bring the Gospel message of Jesus Christ to our multi-cultural community, build strong relationships with our neighbors, and be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ to those in need.
